The old crossroad adjacent to the villa has for many years been the site of a local shrine which still stands today and always boasts fresh flowers.
The shrine is known as "the Madonnina" which means "little Madonna". From this we have taken the villa name VILLA MADONNINA.
In times gone bye the local community gathered in the court yard of the villa during August to celebrate the festa of our lady which culminated in a torch light procession through the lanes to the masseria or manor house.
The shrine is still part of the villa and can be visited by a private gate directly from our Orchard.
